Dr. Mendelson is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn. He attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at New York University/Bellevue Medical Center. He completed his Fellowship in Cardiology at North Shore University Hospital, specializing in clinical and noninvasive Cardiology.
Dr. Mendelson has expertise and maintains board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and CT Angiography of the coronary arteries. He has special interest in cardiac imaging and its appropriate use. Over the past two decades, Dr. Mendelson has developed an interest in Clinical Informatics and, when first offered several years ago, he became Board Certified in that specialty as well.
Dr. Mendelson is Chairman of the Department of Medicine of Jamaica Hospital. Additionally, he is the Director of Cardiology. He has a busy clinical practice in general cardiology and directs the noninvasive cardiology laboratory at the hospital. He is also the Medical Director of TJH Medical Services, PC, the faculty practice of the MediSys Health System and serves as the physician liason to the clinical informatics team for the MediSys Health Network. He is past President of Jamaica Hospital's Medical Staff. Dr. Mendelson is an active participant in the teaching programs at the hospital, particularly in the education of residents and medical students, and participates in clinical research within the organization.
